How to hang

Hanging wallpaper is simpler than you think

Decorating your space should be an enjoyable process. Because our wallpapers are printed on a premium non-woven base, they utilize paste-the-wall technology. This means you apply the adhesive directly to your wall rather than the paper, completely eliminating the need for a messy pasting table, awkward soaking times, or worrying about the paper expanding and stretching.

Whether you are a seasoned DIY enthusiast or transforming a room for the very first time, our straightforward three-step process makes it incredibly easy to achieve a beautiful, professional finish with minimal fuss.

Step 1: Prepare the walls

Make sure the wall is clean, dry, smooth and ready for application. Remove any existing wallpaper, loose paint or flaking surfaces.

The wall should have an even colour and finish, as any strong colour or surface variation may show through the wallcovering. Lightly sand painted surfaces to create a suitable key.

For the best results, we recommend cross-lining the walls with a high-quality lining paper. Allow the lining paper to dry completely before applying the wallcovering.

Step 2: Apply the adhesive

This is a paste-the-wall wallcovering, so adhesive should be applied directly to the wall, not to the back of the wallpaper.

Use a good-quality, solvent-free, fungicide-protected, ready-mixed adhesive specifically designed for non-woven wallpaper. Do not use self-mixed or multipurpose pastes.

Apply the adhesive evenly across the wall, covering an area slightly wider than the width of the wallpaper strip. Make sure the surface is fully covered, with no bare patches, to help prevent bubbles or blisters beneath the wallcovering.

Step 3: Hang the wallpaper

Before applying the first strip, lightly mark a vertical guide on the wall using a spirit level or plumb line. Taking time to position the first strip perfectly straight will ensure the remaining strips align correctly.

Apply the first strip to the pasted wall and gently smooth it into place using a decorator's brush. Work from the centre towards the edges to remove any trapped air.

Position the second strip carefully, starting at the top and aligning the edges precisely. The strips should meet neatly with tight, seamless joints and no visible gaps.

Avoid pressing excessive adhesive out through the joints, and take care to keep paste away from your brush or roller.

Caring for your wallpaper

Take extra care when working with paste.

Adhesive can mark or damage the surface of the wallcovering, so any paste should be removed immediately while still moist using a clean, damp cloth.

Our wallpaper is uncoated, meaning a small amount of ink may transfer if the surface is rubbed. Do not rub the wallpaper. Gently dab or wipe away any excess paste.

These instructions are provided in good faith as general guidance. The buyer and installer are responsible for ensuring that the walls and site conditions are suitable for the wallcovering before installation.

How to remove

When it is time for a change, removing our non-woven wallpaper is just as straightforward as hanging it. There is no need for heavy steaming or messy chemical strippers.

  • Step 1: Find a corner — Start at a bottom corner or near the skirting board of a wallpaper strip. Use a putty knife or your fingernail to gently lift the edge of the paper.
  • Step 2: Peel away — Holding the lifted edge, slowly and evenly pull the wallpaper upwards and away from the wall. The premium non-woven backing is designed to come off in full, clean sheets without tearing into tiny pieces.
  • Step 3: Clean the surface — Once all the sheets are removed, a light layer of water-soluble paste residue may remain on the wall. Simply wipe the wall down with a sponge and warm, soapy water to leave it perfectly clean and ready for your next design.
